New images of China’s J-XDS, also known as the J-50, are offering one of the clearest looks yet at the country’s next-generation stealth fighter program.
This Condutta.com infographic highlights the most notable features visible on the latest prototype, including a light-gray radome, movable wingtip surfaces, larger exhaust nozzles, a diamond-shaped opening beneath the nose and the aircraft’s landing configuration.
The images may show a third J-XDS/J-50 prototype undergoing flight testing, suggesting that development of the aircraft is progressing. Analysts have also pointed to the larger exhaust nozzles as a possible indication of new engines, potentially from the WS-15 family, although this has not been officially confirmed.
Designed as a visual reference, the infographic separates observable characteristics from technical interpretations that remain unverified. The J-XDS/J-50 is one of several advanced combat aircraft currently associated with China’s efforts to develop a new generation of low-observable fighters, advanced sensors and more capable propulsion systems.
